You can buy your tickets in advance and pick your seats. When arriving at the theater you can head straight to your reserved seats.

On certain first run movies you can go to the AMC app and choose where in the theater you want to sit. Once you pay for your ticket online, the seat you have chosen will be blocked off and reserved for you so no one else can choose that particular seat.
