I have an 18 year old son who was accepted for this Fall at U of U. We are active LDS family living in Northern CA. What kind of experience will an out-of-state LDS freshman have at the Institute? Finding roommates? Is Lasonde a good idea? Thanks!

It'll be a great place and great experience being right by campus and close to housing. It's also where most local YSA wards meet.

He will be accepted like a brother, find friends for a lifetime, and have life-changing experience.

I don't know much about the Lassonde, but the institute has a lot of great activities and firesides that happen on a fairly regular basis. It's a great place to meet people. I don't know of any way that the institute facilitates finding roommates, but calling the institute office during their hours might yield more answers. Also, I'm sure that the University also has information that can help on their website.
