The other option is to get a racing license, which I believe can be as young as 14 yo. The person would need to successfully complete a recognized school such as one from the SCCA, NASA, BMWCCA, Bertil Roos, Skip Barber, or another accredited program. However, each organization that runs track days has to meet the conditions of their insurance for the event. NJMP has its own track days, as well as a private membership of which I am a member. I can tell you that we have people under 16 that do member days fairly frequently. The track's insurance is different from any external organization that rents the track. So if you are serious about tracking, and especially racing, the Drivers Club is the best option. You can learn more about it by calling NJMP, or visiting their website. Bottom line is that it's much easier to race under 16 yo than to do track days with any organization that is not run by the track itself.

You must be old enough to possess a valid driver's license in your home state. There's no age requirement but if you're under 18, you'll need a parent or legal guardian to sign for you.
