Ear plugs world be helpful, but if you only have ear bud headphones, it would be enough. You can also listen to the radio broadcast with the Indycar mobile app.
I second the suggestion of earbud headphones, the style with the rubber tips that go in your ear. And you always want to follow along on the radio and use your phone for live scorining.
