Take them inside the store, there is a can and bottle return station. Very convenient. They also have to be clean.
Iowa law says they have to be dry and reasonably clean. Dry residue of the former beverage is allowable. Law says $6 in returns per person per day.
Only plastic bottles accepted are one that contained liquor or carbonated beverages. Carbonated water bottles are accepted, noncarbonated waters are not.
They still take them but not as many with the new can return in Hyvee parking lot. And yes they need to be clean.
