I am thinking about having my daughter's birthday party there on Saturday Aug 10th. If some people aren't going to swim, do I have to pay for them? If so, group rates? Easy to get picnic table if not reserved ahead?

You pay for swimming if you go on the beach. Are you looking for a table near the beach? I suggest you call the park and ask these specific questions. 276-930-2424 You have to reserve a picnic shelter with tables (and there is a fee), not just tables as suggested by one of the other responses here.

Unless you are reserving a shelter in advance....and there are fees for that....picnic tables are first come first serve. The park is very busy on the weekends especially in the summer

But for day trippers, each car parking pays a fee. Swimming is extra fee for swimmers. If you are staying in the campground or cabin, the fees are all included in the charge. This may be a good approach for celebrations requiring a lot of preparation and are long days.
