Yes, there are a few train tables in the back. There are also some exhibits that kids can control either the train or parts of the exhibits. Our 8 year old enjoyed it.
Many of the layouts have buttonsome kids can push to operate trains and street cars. And we enjoy the new treasure hunt.
There are little "secret" button on many of the train exhibits, and a table with interesting switches and settings. Two very smart guys aged 6 and 10 couldn't be pried away! A great volunteer gent even explained the machines. It's all very intriguing for an 8 year old.
Yes it is a great place for kids of all ages. It is a fun and educational place.

It is all set up to be interactive for all ages & plenty of volunteers on hand to help and explain and teach, we had a great experience I highly & recommend it! There are also outdoor real trains to check out 😁
