Is that true

If you're 60 or over. Same here mine passed away when I was 50. They said I had to wait unless I was disabled.

If you were married at least 10 years you can collect your ex husband's social security instead of your own, I was married over 10 years and we have been divorced a long time and he is dying of cancer and I was told I can collect his social security if he dies before I retire, we are still very close and I am his caregiver now and I will miss him when he passes but it is comforting to know I can draw his, it is much higher than mine would be, I am glad I never remarried because if I did I wouldn't be able to draw his, at least that is what I was told.

You can collect before 62 but you will suffer severe penalties that reduce your payment %. The only exception is if you were born in a pre 62 requirement bracket. You will have to ask a social security agent if you qualify for earlier retirement.
