It is part of what most refer to as Fire Island. This section runs from Moriches Inlet on the eastern end to the new inlet opened up by Sandy on the west end, opposite Bellport.
Fire island is about 32 mikes long so Yes it is. It is actually right next to Fire Island National sea shore or known as FINS .
You can see fire island from there though. Beautiful sunsets!
