The goal of medication assisted treatment is to taper off the medication when and if it is appropriate. This is a VERY common misconception that treatment programs “hook” you on methadone and never taper you off. It’s very important to distinguish between addiction and dependence.

You must be careful there. You get hooked on the methadone and you have to wean yourself off of that too. They do not help you with that. They will keep taking your money as long as you give it.
