I just tell them no thank you and keep walking
Admittedly the security is tight theft must be a big problem because my wife and I have been questioned multiple times by different individuals while shopping for necessities like TP and paper towels and cleaning goods clearly visible in the basket now im no thief but if I were to try and steal something it sure wouldn't be toiletries and cleaning goods hahahah it is what it is I guess
IF you are truly offended, just smile and tell them, " our business was completed when I received my receipt. If you believe I am doing anything other than legally shopping in your store, then please, call the local authorities and I will wait, however, filing a false police report is a crime," As employees, they are just doing their jobs, however, if you have a receipt, the goods are your personal property, which are covered under the Constitution and you do not need to show them anything.
Try Walmart in Beaumont Texas... it really sux, esp. the automotive service area. This is result of having to rehire a bunch of personnel that went AWOL after Hurricane Harvey. This Tucson W-M on Speedway@Kolbe Is The Best I've ever visited And... They're open 24/7 !! Not so in SE Texas. Why? Way too many Entitled People, employees & public, stealing them blind. Tucson shoppers you're Blest to have this store.
I avoid this store whenever possible. Though they have a large variety of items, the workers (not all, but many) are not friendly or helpful. In fact lately they can't even point in the right direction as to where I can find certain items. They certainly do not obey the 10 foot rule that Walmart has in place for them. And (not so much lately) the people who are allowed to sit out front of the store are sometimes aggressive. But there is alot of theft at the store. Many of them. At the one I worked at they starting to lock up laundry soap, hair dye, and certain kinds of deordant and more to come. It's more of a hassle to shop at the stores anymore. And the"lower" prices just don't seem worth it.
I never get harassed most of them take one look at me either nod or turn and walk in another direction. Must be my mask? Anyway this is also the same Wal Mart that David Hasslehoff took his daughter to for college student supplies to attend the U of A University. So, be kind, have a good attitude and things should be fine. I still get a smile when they see me coming.
I feel it is so big no one knows where anything is
@Mike Davis, when you were staying at Navajo Court Apt. By any chance have you met or know James Kenneth Dickinson?
Banksy, I do the same thing, as they know they actually have no right to ask you for your receipt, as Steven Bailey outlined. If you pay attention, if it's a night when TPD is standing guard at the door along with the regular security & workers, like they do at Wetmore, they never ask for your receipt when the cop is standing there, because they know they have no right to. On the same note, but different angle, a worker told me they should only ask for it if you have loose items, not in a bag, whether they're too big to fit or just those awkward items they send you out with loose in your cart. If the worker is cool to me, I just show them, but it really irks me that they have no right, are aware of it, & still shake you down anyway. I get they're just doing their job, & some people say well if you have nothing to hide... but that's not the way rights work & it defeats the purpose of those rights & protections like the constitution if you willingly allow them to be violated.
