Take Metro to the Federal South West stop.
The best way to get there is by metro / train. Federal Center Plaza metro station is in the same block of the museum. You can take blue / silver or orange line. I do not recommend driving there. I have been living in DC for over 19 years and the best & cheapest way to move around is public transportation.
Its a garage near the Starbucks
You can find free street parking on the weekend, especially Sunday (make sure there isn't a large DC event that weekend). There is a few garages, including one connected to the building on the back, but I would take the green line and get off at L 'Effant plaza two blocks away.

If you are already visiting the National Mall, it's a short walk.
There is a garage almost right in front of it on 4th street. It costs average 15.00/day weekends. I think its worth it bcz on the streets (good 🍀 finding a spot) u get limited time.

I walked, the location is close to all major museums.
There are plenty on street parking spots on Sunday.
