When I fished there as a kid what we mostly caught were catfish. Keep in mind this was 20 years ago. You can fish anywhere within the park so long as it is within season. You can call the park office to ensure when the season is.
Most easy access for fishing are near thompson bridge. I have seen people fish all along from chadds ford downstream and from the north side more than south side of creek probably due to better access
