Yes, well behaved children with an appreciation of looking at "pictures" and discovering concepts, shapes, colors, people, seasons, buildings, plants, etc. found in the art. Sculpture can inspire play with clay, play dough, paper mache, wood, scissors, glue, etc. It is a great place for curious children, even as young as three or four, who can focus, discover, and imagine. Supervised children are welcome I'm sure. It is not a place for running around unsupervised. Always be mindful of other patrons and guests. Many children are better guests and express their curiosity and interest in art better than some adults. I have seen school field trips to art museums in other cities, including very young children. Activities after the field trip include drawing, painting, and "sculpting" and show the children's incredible understanding of the value of art education at school and at home.
Hi Liz, Children are absolutely welcome and encuoraged to participate at the Kimbell Art Museum. We have a family playroom for our youngest museum patrons and regular drop-in programs for children on Saturdays. I encourage you to view the calendar of children and family events on our website at https://www.kimbellart.org/calendar We also have gallery fidgets available at the front desk if your kiddos need something to do with their hands while looking at the art! Thanks, Madison Ladd PR Coordinator, Kimbell Art Museum
They have specific kid friendly activities you can sign them up for. However the museum as a whole is still an art museum so I would say it depends on the behavior of the child in terms of taking them through the collections.
Not particularly. If you are going to take them through the museum you will need to monitor them carefully. There are hardly any tactile exhibits. The kids will probably be bored unless they are 10+
Yes. The lobby even has a few art related games for them to play with.
