You can get a walk-in at Silver. Maybe not one of the premium sites right on the lake, but generally speaking you should be ok. We've only had 1 or 2 years we had to camp elsewhere because it was completely full. Only some of the sites can be reserved and several are walk in only. Drive in slowly and check the tags. If someone is leaving that day, go have breakfast across the road and if they're up, maybe ask if they'll text you when they leave, or let you leave a chair so others will know it's already taken. You can fill out a new tag, pay up, and leave it behind theirs so the host knows you're moving in. I think checkout is 12, but if they leave early you're fine to move right in.
No more walk on. All sites reservable now
Good if it is a State Campground, all privately owned campgrounds and RV sites are generally booked months in advance.
