Looks like a nice Campground with a good location but you're not allowed to do a quick drive-thru even with your California State Park day pass. Looks like a lot of grass, campsites are spread out pretty well, pretty close to Grover Beach just a small hike over the dunes. No hookups at all but there's a dump station on the way out.
North beach is considered "Dry Camping". Meaning you just rough it. No power ,water, beauty or nail salons... Showers and bathrooms only price went up $10 after quite a while at $25 a night It's a short walk to 7-11 and the Beach village. It become a Trailers nightmare in the summer.. and the idiots driving on the beach ruin the ecosystem and ambiance of seaside life... But that's down the road a bit.
Not closed in November - I go every year. Need reservations through Thanksgiving weekend, first come first serve beginning in December. Go to the reservecalifornia.com site for details.
Do they accept walk in or do you HAVE to come in a vehicle?

I believe to mitigate against just anyone coming in and claiming a spot, you need a vehicle I believe or something similar to tape your ticket inside to show that that IS your campsite and you are not some freeloader.
How much per night..

We paid $35 plus $7.99 online reservation fee. Well worth it. Sites are spaces out and right next to beach. 20 minute walk to pier.
Whatβs the cost for an RV with hook ups per night?

You reserve sites at ReserveCalifornia.com
How many sites are first come first serve?

It is by reservations only. Usually 6 months in advanced per campsite to make reservations. If you are lucky you can call reserve California to see if any spots are open.
It is used to be first come, first served.
A suggestion would to be placing a reservation 6 months ahead. That's right, for example, if I were to camp in July, I would need to place my tickets in Dec 2020.
I have a question is it ok if you were waiting in line for 3 hours then the ranger comes and says she needs to get every one with a reservation I thought she was discriminating against me

Unfortunately people with reservations do have priority. Understand that's not at all what you want to hear. Especially after a 3 hour wait. Sorry you felt singled out, but it's a busy place hence reservations.
Can I bring my rzr, then hit the dunes from there?

Yes
Is North Beach campground open for overnight camping right now?
Is anyone else having a horrible time booking this year? I log on at 8am and every day they are all full right at 8. It's been frustrating because this is our annual tradition as a family and I dont understand how everyone is booking.

I have been having the same problem. Last year we booked for September and it was amazing!
This request requires thinking out side of the box. Like checking craigs list. However, all is not lost. There is a county park on Hwy 1, Coastal Dunes, which does do monthly. No deposit last i checked, about $800 plus includes utilities and cable, they have a pool, showers, will need to do application.Another option is Pacific Dunes Ranch. $1000 per mo. May not have availability until after Thanksgiving.
We just returned from there. There are no fires near Pismo Beach. I believe the campground is open all year. Weekends were rather full, but midweek was not. We had a delightful stay with spectacular weather yet cool nights. The butterfly display was getting started and should be great for the next few months. Make reservations if you plan on arriving on a weekend. We had a most enjoyable trip.
For California state parks you must use reservecalifornia.com. And no, you can not reserve for the same day. North Beach is generally booked all summer, so good luck!
Do you have openings for Saturday one day thank you

They do have a one day over night option. But you would have to call to check availability first it is packed during the summer. Also bring one dollar Bill's for the shower tokens the machine does not take quarters.
Dry camp, no water, electric or sewer hook up. There is a dump station on site and a service that comes around during peak season. They also deliver ice and firewood for a fee. And to Mr. Calvillo - our motor home has a generator and we never use it, went solar about 25+ years ago before it became "trendy." And yes, you are so correct, be respectful of your fellow campers. If you can't live without tv or whatever it is you need to run a generator for . . . There are many other options in the area.
I am not an employee. I would not know if there are avalibilities for any date. I would assume that if you dont have a reservation already that you are likley not going to get one for such a close date
State beaches do have restrictions how long you can stay and do not offer weeks or monthly rates. Check on Google Maps as there are some rv parks neaerby offering these.
Yes. The showers use tokens, which cost .50 cents each. Each token gives two minutes of shower time. Bathrooms are flush. Sinks are on the outside of buildings. They are maintained daily.
when and where is the best time to see monarch butterflies?

Better go quick! Typically from October through February, 10 to 4. They have docents that provide talks and info at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily. Numbers are drastically down from previous years. If you can, as soon as the current storm set has passed, make plans to go soon. The trail is adjacent to the North Beach Campground.

If it were me, i would give it a try, all they can do is tell you to call back . . . Or try on line and it will not process. Get on line at midnight on New Year's Eve. I have done it and glad I did. Sometimes it "takes" and sometimes they lock it out till 8 am. If you need multiple sites, get another person to call in or go on line too, and use your landlines if possible so that you and the other person can text back and forth. We have gone so far as to double book to try and get the sites we want and just pay the cancellation fee for the sites we give back. Split all fees equally across how ever many sites you need. June is a popular month and it will be booked up in a matter of minutes.
Are you on the correct website? Reservecalifornia.com? NOT closed, as my relatives live there, it's open, might just be booked solid through Thanksgiving weekend.
Its open, but the reservations are first come first serve online and over the phone. This is peak camping season and the only way you will get a spot is to show up day of and hope for a cancellation.
Probably not. Weekends during the summer are usually booked months in advance. Last time i checked, there were no sites available on any weekend for months out.
Yes, i believe they started reserving jan 2, 2018. Its a small campground so the major holiday weekends are probably all booked. But, you can check their reservation website
There are many however North Beach has no hookups. Your trailer will have to be self sustaining as there is no electric. The dump is located near by. A few names for rentals....BJ rentals ....Love to Camp....Pismo Coast Villiage...enjoy your Memorial Day visit. It's very busy at that time..lots of traffic.
The spaces are first come first served on the internet and they usually book up very fast during the summer months. I would not go there without a reservation as you take your chances of being turned away
The one across the street from north beach campgriund has plumbing and electricity, and water North beach I believe only has a place to dumping your poop
