We just returned from there. There are no fires near Pismo Beach. I believe the campground is open all year. Weekends were rather full, but midweek was not. We had a delightful stay with spectacular weather yet cool nights. The butterfly display was getting started and should be great for the next few months. Make reservations if you plan on arriving on a weekend. We had a most enjoyable trip.
Usually the weather has a lot to do with if they open or closed the park but right now I think it's first come first serve
Im not sure if its being affected by the fires. I believe its open in November it used to be. I would go online and reserve the days your planning on going.
