There are many great views along the way so you don't have to do the whole thing. There is also a turn out about half way. You can also start at sugar pine and walk down if someone can give you a ride up. About 3 to 4 weeks ago there was a crew cutting all the logs across the trail so it should be pretty clear now
We started from the bottom and worked our way up. Lots of fallen trees on the path so there's alot of going up and under or around them. Next day I was pretty sore myself
The hike can be steep. I've seen families with little ones do the trail, but they also brought a lunch to sit and rest.
