If you can show a need like a prebooked flt or an emergency you can request an expedited passport... same day delivery to you. But you will have to show up to the appointment with all needed documents and photos along with a method of payment for the fee.
If you have an appointment it all depends on the time you are traveling and how far away you live. A passport can be made same day but it is only for people leaving that day or next or live over 100 miles and mailing it out would not reach you on time.
