This is correct. Very few people use the area. It is not worth maintaining for the amount of use that it gets. The Corps had been trying to find an organization to take over the area, but no organization wants to take on such an underutilized camp ground.

Yes. The Army Corps of Engineers released a statement that it would close March 1st 2018. They say that it is due to underutilization and projected budget restrictions
