Recreation passes are required and are sold inside.
I had to get a recreational pass. It was 16 bucks. Thought that was high. Then i was told i cant have a day pass! Is this ture?

Michigan State Park, think it's $11, entrance to any state park. Get the plate & be done with it. Oakland county park pass is $30
You'll risk being fined if a patrol comes around inspecting that vehicles are displaying valid passes (daily, or Recreation Passports, etc)
I always thought it was free. I've been there a few times and never saw anyone at the gate, just rangers around the park.
