Ed P. is my trap and sporting clays trainer, he is super groovy, knows everything about the mind-body challenges of shooting a shotgun and is just plain AWESOME, the Obi-Wan Kenobi of trainers (it's mostly in your head!), I highly recommend him. Jim C.? I didn't even pay for instruction but he went out of his way to help me when I was struggling with hard right clays. Man, I watched Jim shoot skeet today, wow, he crushed every clay, you're learning from the best with these guys!

I have been learning to shoot skeet and sporting clays at Island Lake and have had an incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful experience there. I highly recommend James Chambers if you want a terrific instructor who is a continual student of teaching who deeply cares about being a great coach. I have made enormous progress with him. Additionally, all the staff (John especially!) have repeatedly gone out of their way to help me out with not just the shooting, but help with gun maintenance and more. I feel a wonderful sense of inclusion. I was recently impressed with how they made a special (and delighted) effort to help a friend in a wheelchair with gun fit, accessing the DNR chair, and being invested in making sure he would have a great time.

Sighted in a new gun today. This was my first trip out to island lake. The RO was amazing and took time to help me problem solve issues with the new gun. Furthermore, I asked and received help returning from the range to the parking lot. As an asthmatic staff were gracious. A very positive experience. Thank you.

Just went out to shoot sporting clays with an old friend. The staff was great and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to learn how to shoot sporting clays. Some of the targets were easier than others, I will definitely go back.

Usually not on the holidays. They have a website. Google
100 yards
Yes they allow muzzle loaders
The ranges are 25, 50 and 100 yards
The rifle range is open year round
Unlimited time at the rifle&pistol range...last I went it was $15. Trap shooting is...I believe $5 or $10 for 25 clay targets
Yes
Only with slugs, no buck, bird, etc.
Yes. Depends on what you want to shoot. Clays or range. Mich resident or not. Park pass or not.
I don't know...it seems like a liability risk to allow them.
No. 25, 50, and 100 yards only
Not at island lake
$15 for rifle and pistol. mishoot.com/pricing
The range distances are 100, 50, and 25 yards. The 25 yard distances can be changed between cease fires. You're able to use that on all three distances.
They sell ammo and skeet. I've always brought my own guns, so I don't know if they rent. Yes, you can "rent" a lane. I think it's $5 or $10 per 25 skeets. It's launched by an employee and they'll walk you through it.
What is this, communist Russia? Lol no, you're good.
John, it is best to call them and ask about your specific situation. They do have regular instruction for shotgun clay targets by appointment (not free). Classes for handgun and rifle vary, but the staff on the range are more than willing to help if you bring your own firearms + ammo.
