Violin string sets start at $21 plus tax and we do not charge to install or tune the strings however they will stretch quite a bit in the first couple of days so they will not stay in tune for very long until they settle. Our rosin starts at $2 and the metal mutes are $15 for violin. Installation of strings usually takes about 5 minutes.
It shouldn't take more than five minutes to change the strings.
String costs range anywhere from about $30 for inexpensive store brand (Lisle's house brand string is actually pretty good for its price) to around $120 for a set of Infelds, Pirazzis, or something similar. Time to replace strings is around 30 minutes. But they will stretch and require frequent tuning for at least a week. Metal mutes cost around $15 as I recall. You can get cheap rosin for a couple of bucks... but I cant stress how much better it is to just spend a few dollars more and buy a $20 cake of bernadahl, or something of quality. It will likely last for years. I recommend quickly learning to train your ear and learning to tune and change your own strings. It's worth your time, as your progress and enjoyment will be nearly completed destroyed by a violin with new strings that are stretching and going out of tune. You can literally hear them going flat when first strung, and they will only retain a stable pitch for a few minutes after until they stabilize.
