Two weeks before my surgery I was told that they would not pay for the surgery unless I was smoke free for 30 days prior and without gum or patches and they would test for it. Has this happened to alot of you?

I had surgery all went without incident except could not get PT.I got a letter from them a week ago saying the reason they denied it is because my BMI was over 45 that it was 47.87. I am 5'2"and at time of surgery I weighed 119.. Oh wait that question was from 2 years ago with total hip replacement which they did pay in full . I was responding too my total knee replacement I just had end of October 2021.

That is pretty common and smart
