I would recommend that

The Garden does not do the scanning of phones. Only hard copy tickets are allowed. You have to have them printed , in hand to enter. They do not print tickets for you. The easiest for me is to go and print them myself at STAPLES located on 8th ave and 35th/36th. Thats a block and a half away. You can just enter on 8th ave and 34th street. That's a fool proof plan!

We went to the Knicks game last Wednesday. We were told that scanning the tickets was possible if the tickets were downloaded as a Pdf document

I had Knicks tickets printed out but there were folks with bar codes on phones . Think ticketmaster recommend printing

You can have a picture on your phone or if you go with time you can get them at the window

I didn't print them at all....I had the bar code for them to scan so I wouldn't have to print

I went to UFC 217 and I had to print my ticket in advance. But I don't know if the same goes for the Rangers or Knicks games.
