Isabel, there are a lot of rescues. Community cats, look that up on the internet and it will give you all sorts of links to rescues in the area. SUVAS is wonderful and tries to save them All. Lots of rescues go in there and rescue adoptable cats get them fixed chipped vaccinated and then off to adoption events.
If you are in our District, you can bring the cat here. We do not claim to be No Kill as we do have to euthanize some feral (wild) cats. Anything that is adoptable (won't eat someone) is adopted or goes out to rescues. (If it is lost, we try to find the owner first). Even places that say they are No Kill can euthanize 10% of their animals. We vaccinate all incoming animals, shelter them and try to find good homes for them.
