As I recall from the museum, by the 70's they were pretty well in line with other law enforcement personnel as far as training and certifications. Aside from the museum's historian which by the way is an excellent suggestion, you might also check with the Texas organization which verifies law enforcement personnel. I'm Florida it is Criminal Justice Standards and Training, so the Texas equivalent. They should have records as well. But I would definitely start with the museum. Good luck with your search.
