Yes you need a membership card if you intend to shop at Sam's regularly. But you can go online or go to the store's service counter and ask for a one day guest pass.
Yes the membership card gives you access to their savings club with discounts on hundreds of items. The membership is 45 for the whole year which you renew annually (if you choose to) and you can purchase it in hoose at the customer service counter. If you just want to look around the store you can but when you go to purchase an item they will ask for your membership card.
