Tell me about the work-life balance of working 12 hour shifts/sleep, how you deal with it? Is it hard to have a social life, find time to hang out/talk with family/friends (or does it depends on what shift)? What do you do on off days/time?

I'm at the Delaware plant, we use to rotate day and night shift every 16 days when I first started here in 2011 but we haven't rotated in years. They said they won't make us switch shifts like that again. I believe that they need people for day and night shift both right now so they may give you a choice between the two. If you get nights you may have a little bit of training on day shift but once you go to nights you stay there. Its "suppose to be" 3 fifteen minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch break

Are you in Delaware,oh facility or somewhere else? Yeah nights could be hard at least until you get used to it. So do you get hired for one shift and stay there or is there a rotation or some sort periodically throughout the year? Or do they train you on day shift but you might end up being on nights permanently (or do you choose which shift you want) after a certain period of time? I am confused because I’ve read some places that shifts are rotated (don’t know how long on one or the other) and other places that it’s always the same one the whole time you are there. Oh and working 12 hours, what kind of breaks do you get over that long of a shift? Anything besides a lunch?
