If OME parts were not specifically requested before repairs started, it may be difficult. The BMW dealer only uses OME

I'm not sure. Were you provided with a cost estimate before signing for repairs? Did the estimate indicate where the parts would come from?

Brian Harris sold me a Certified Pre-Owned BMW with after market parts which were improperly installed and refused to do ANYTHING about it. Their General Manager, Brett Bagley said they were not responsible. Very irresponsible and poor business relations. I will never go back there, and encourage others not to do business there either. It’s worth the ride to New Orleans to go to Peake BMW!

Some parts are universal (nuts bolts screws hoses tubing) and are held to an engineering standard that may or may not be equivalent to the part from BMW. In this scenario the dealer is potentially liable for damages resulting from the part failing. This is a common type of civil suit. But I'm fuzzy on the precedent for civil suits involving potential damages. I'm not sure there is any. However if the part involves the car's aesthetic and quality (fit and finish) even if it was door trim. They have to get the OEM part. There's a part number for everything in the car except the gas. You can download the shop manual from forums and find it. The parts department at Bh-bmw can find it for you. Over the phone if you like. Sometimes up have to wait on hold but be patient they only have one guy answering parts calls. I would be surprised if the management or a senior tech approved the decision. Brian Harris would certainly prefer you handle it through them and not BMWofNA.
