To slightly modify the other answer, all restorative dentistry has a lifespan, which may or may not be for the rest of one's life, and greatly depends on many factors the individual patient brings to the table. I think 10 to 20 years is not unreasonable, but sometimes long term successful esthetic dentistry like a veneer involves more than it "remaining in place." As gums recede with age and the high edges of upper veneers begin to show and perhaps pick up stains, many patients with a "high smile line" may want an update (replacement) for esthetic reasons only, which has nothing to due with how durable they can be. The exact timeline for this to occur varies patient to patient and this type of dentistry is called "patient driven." If any patient is no longer satisfied with the appearance of any of their older dentistry, they should have a discussion with their dentist. We at Smile Sensations Dental are always happy to have these important discussions with our patients!

Yes, veneers are designed to remain in place for the rest of your life. They will usually last for 10-20 years, and if one loosens, wears out, or breaks, it needs to be replaced.
