Hi Marjorie, you can get in touch with our Community Support team at LifeLineAnimal.org/community-support. They'll let you know what resources are available and can help with finding a new home for your dog.

I just received your question, so sorry to take so long answering. I don't work there, but they are wonderful, open people. I adopted 2 pets from them. You can get their number by googling them. Call them during their regular business hours and they'll give you the best advice they have. If I were you, if they say no, I would ask directly if they can direct you to another number or another agency that can answer your question. I say this because my uneducated impression is that different shelters may have different rules depending on their affiliation (whether or not they have a corporate sponsor, etc.). That's just my personal impression from adopting animals over the years. You could also call the shelter in the county where you live.
