I wouldn't worry too much about how hard it is to get in. Once you're in, it is honestly the best place to get treated at.
It's very easy to get into Shepherd Center, especially if you have a referral. Alot of it depends on which Clinic or what Treatment ( s ) you need as well.
Not very.
As a specialized provider of rehabilitation for people with spinal cord and brain injury, Shepherd Center receives many patient referrals from around the nation and world. Demand for our services is high, and capacity is limited. Thus, at times we have waiting lists for our various levels of care. In cases where we cannot admit a patient, we recommend that you work with the case manager in the facility where you are currently a patient to find options for continued care. In Florida, resources include the Florida Spinal Cord Injury Resource Center at www.fscirc.com/ and the Florida Department of Health’s Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program at www.floridahealth.gov/provider-and-partner-resources/brain-and-spinal-cord-injury-program/index.html. Also, you may find useful information for the patient and caregiver through Shepherd Center’s educational website at www.MyShepherdConnection.org.
Unfortunately, the answers here are not the ones I got. My insurance allotment is winding down, and I was told the day program has an eight month waiting list. No help was provided and no hope offered.
