Here's my plan. Everybody goes together w/luggage to the terminal to help w/ unloading and checking in bags which is occurs outside. Then 2 people get in line inside which can take an hour easily if before noon. (We usually get there around 1pm for the way shorter lines. This is for a 3pm Norwegian departure ) 2 people return the rental car and Uber back to the terminal and get dropped ACROSS the street. Walk across to terminal. This alone can save you 20 min waiting in terminal traffic. All rejoin finishing the wait line. If you are delayed during return to terminal, no problem. Your friends can just pull out of line and wait for you until you get there. Get onboard, hit the buffet and have a great time!
You would all need to check in together. So two and two would not work. May I suggest having uber pick you all up from the rental car return spot. This way uber can drop you off at the port and you may all check in together.
Is it pretty easy to drop them off the cruise terminal?
Agreed with Dan
Agree with janey
I would agree to dropping off 2 people an luggage, the only problem you may have is dropping off rental car an getting back before the first two get to the check in desk! All parties must be present at check in counter, they will take your ID picture an give you a room key...plus check with renal Co. They usually have a shuttle to cruise terminal..
All the rental agencies have locations in Manhattan. So drop off depends on which company you're using. But yes dropping luggage and a couple passengers off first is your best bet.
Yes the line going through security can be quite long having somebody there ahead of time to wait with your stuff for the amount of time you spend waiting online
