Unless something has changed recently, I am pretty sure they won't scan a PDF (or other image) of a physical ticket on your phone. I would print it out if you can, just to be safe.

App, email or print is cool. I liked just being able to flash the printed ticket when I was getting food though.
They can scan it from the phone. If there are any problems, just have access to the original email
