You can call, most facilities will not give info unless the person in ER let's them or you're responsible for that person.
Normally, it is not permitted per HIPAA and confidentiality.
The only the thing a hospital could tell is if that person was admitted and what room , unless they were a silent patient ( behavioural health patient ) in that case only the police can find out that are there and safe ,via a missing person report .ultimately in the E.D. unless they reach out to you you won't be able to get any info.
