I paid down my mortgage 100000 dollars but my monthly payment is the same. they told me that they are going to take the money and add more to the principle instead of lowering the payment like any other mortgage company. is this legal.

Opt out of escrow and pay your own home owner insurance. Pay your own property taxes. And your mortgage payment will be lower.
