I had a membership with planet fitness that I signed up for online. The info about auto payments and dates and billing was all really clear on the website when I signed up. When I called to ask about canceling I was told the same thing, in person or mail, and explained that they needed a signature for the cancellation otherwise anyone could just call and cancel anyone else membership, which would not be good. That made a lot of sense to me.
