Declawing is never the answer. Would you want your mother or father to take you to the doctor to get your fingertips chopped off? It sounds like what you need are claw caps, they can be easily purchased on Amazon for cheap.
That is such a horrible thing to do to a cat , you should research what they actually do in that procedure. It's illegal in some places. Please reconsider.....
