Just go and look. They really cannot tell you what they are. It takes a DNA test. Be prepared to give the dog a few weeks to adjust. It's stressful on them. Be prepared to not get what you thought too. Maybe bigger or a different color than you planned it to be unless you get it grown.
They do on occasion get Maltese pups and dogs there yes. Your best bet is to call when you get ready to head that way and see if they have any available.
