Honestly I'm not affiliated with this agency. I'm a citizen who has done some research. As to what their protocols are, I would ask the hardworking people who are employed in that code enforcement facility. Ft. Worth's shelter is very pro life and is considered to be a progressive facility. There are facilities in other cities that have very grim policy. Ft. Worth is fortunate in many ways, our animal shelter facility is one of them. Excellent question.
The girl we adopted came in as a bite risk/aggressor and they did not put her down. When we inquired, the person who works there let us know that they have an independent behavioral assessor that comes in (when he or she can) to personally examine animals who are noted as unfriendly or aggressive. Our girl hadn't yet been assessed but we were able to adopt her with a waiver. She was given all requisite vaccines, tested for heartworm, but on a heartworm med, and was treated for an infection she had. It was a wonderful experience.
Idk about protocals but ik i seen them dumping a load of bodys in the dumpster
