Ship direct. Put bubble wrap not news paper and loads of tape on the box and you'll be fine.
I would carry the China with you if possible. Those will go down the preload chut. Working there, I see how backed up the preload and irreg belts get. Such not a good thing for China's. Put them in wood palletized crate if you do need to ship.
If you're taking from DFW then I cannot encourage you enough to take it with you. No matter the service level your China goes through conveyors, chutes, slides, to be loaded inside a truck where it may be the bottom box with who knows how much weight on top of it. No matter how much bubble wrap there are factors out of your control that can lead to it being destroyed. There's nothing wrong with UPS to ship, all logistics companies are the same, there is randomness to where your China is loaded, what weight box follows it down a chute or slide, so very fragile items deserve some deep thought as to method of transport regardless of how good it's been packed. My opinion, I never fragile items, I drive them.
Pick up in dallas would be the safest/cheapest way to go
