They often run both lower or free adoption fees as well as free chip specials. Chipping is required now that annual registration has been discontinued...at least in Dallas, anyway. If you missed the last free chipping event, either sign up for notification on their website or check it periodically. Still, they only charge $15, so it's relatively affordable, even if you do have to pay
