What would be good guitar for a freshman beginner and how much would It be?

I would get a low price guitar to start with. Once they start playing they could get a better guitar. I still have my first low price guitar.

Id always look at the used section if you're going electric other wise build yur chops on a acoustic. A cheap acoustic will play well and sound good. A cheap electric will almost not make music.

Probably under $100 for a decent acoustic guitar.
