Why was the bridge in Channing H. Philbrick park built? Was it used for cars? If so, why is it no longer useful for that purpose?

This did indeed used to be for general traffic. This was back before 441 was in place. If i am not mistaken, that road joined penfield road and panorama trail. As to why it was removed from vehicle service, i cannot say. I can speculate that since it is essentially a very old single lane bridge, and 441 provided similar access via panaroma trail and rt 441, that it was deemed no longer necessary to vehicle traffic and not upkept because of cost. I would be interested to know exactly why as well
