Phyllis we just love it at LaPosa. The Arizona desert is fabulous. Arid and dry of course because it is a desert. I love love the mountains and the cacti. So many. Be sure and look them up and learn about them. Amazing! We have gone twice from Jan to end of March. That is when it gets mighty hot. Although. It is not too bad this year 2019. Slow warm up. In those 6 months we never saw a snake. Nor a scorpion. They put the warning signs up around mid to end of March. We dont ride but lots of razers and off road vehicles. So many trails. Can easily be 120 degrees at this time of year., We camp near back far away from anyone. But you don't need to if you like being more mainstream. That is the beauty of it. Freedom. All up to you. Enjoy.
Although am no longer a biker (But am still very fond of them) I personally wouldn't do any of the more rugged jeep and ATV trails you see EVERYWHERE. here. Just because if you go down hard and need rescue your remote location on those back trails will make rescue very difficult. Remember.....an ambulance or fire truck or police car may not be able to go where a motorcycle can... At least go riding on the trails with another person. They can you to care if needed or even go for help. Otherwise this place is an adventure's haven. On foot or on wheels....
There is plenty of riding to be done. Lots of gravel roads so need to be aware of. I trailered my Softail and rode everywhere.
There's lots of scenery and interesting places to go cruising on the bike. Lots of rattlers so be very careful this time of year. Also this place is very hot in summer
If you camp here in the winter, the snakes are mostly hibernating, did see any till end of march
There's lots of places to go riding. Yes there are snakes. They are more active when it's hot.
Snakes stay away from people
