Lincoln Park Zoo, founded in 1868, is one of a few free zoos in the US. It is 35 acres (14 hectares) and has about 1100 animals. Exhibits include monkeys, reptiles, gorillas, penguins, polar bears, big cats, among others. The zoo is open 365 days a year and is located in Lincoln Park, a 1208 acre (489 hectares) park along the lakefront of Lake Michigan on the North Side of Chicago. The park is 7 miles (11 km) long and is 27 percent larger than Central Park in New York City. Next to the zoo is Lincoln Park Conservatory, a beautiful glass building, displaying exotic plants from around the world. Lincoln Park is a beautiful place to explore in Chicago. Parking at the zoo is around $30. Public transportation is available to get there also and very good.

It is free, and has the usually expected set of animals ... Including a friendly staff. It's a nice place to walk because it's beside the lake ... What else do you want to know?
