For the Holiday Stroll experience, yes, tickets must be purchased online in advance. If you just want to visit the village during the daytime and shop, you can usually come for free, though festivals and markets which take place on weekends throughout the year may affect cost - for example, there is sometimes a parking charge during a weekend with village-wide entertainment or a ticket per person cost when a festival is happening. But it's always well worth the extra fee during those times!
