I just bought a flowering hawthorn tree. Do I plant it in the container it came in?

No, you definitely want to take it out of the pot before planting it, or the root structure will never develop correctly. Didlg the hole about 50% larger than the pot size, and enrich the dirt from the hole with some compost (1 part compost to 2 parts soil from the hole) and thoroughly tamp the dirt in to the space around the roots to fill in any air pockets. Water well, and stake the tree if you are in a windy area. Sincerely, Hoopers Tree Yard crew member

May I just add...do not bury the "knot" at the base of the tree, or it will grow crooked...I know, I have two beautiful hawthorns and did not know this when I planted mine many years ago. Still a most beautiful tree tho!!!
