Yes you still have to drive with an officer at the DMV when you get your license for the very first time. Your permit and driver's log is just to show that you have had practice under an adult supervision. Everyone has to go through the driving test when they first get their license. Good Luck!
When my cousin went to get his the guy told him that if he had a driving log he wouldnt have to do the driving test.
